This great California ShakeOut is an annual opportunity for you, your family, friends, colleagues, coworkers can practice to be safer during the big earthquake! Available for: indoor, outdoor, and virtual. Safety is our personal responsibility.
Everyone everywhere should be involved in this 1-minute drill! and should know how to protect themselves in an earthquake. Regardless you do not live in any of these earthquake-prone areas may still travel to one.
California participants include EVERYONE! people in schools, colleges, businesses, government agencies, non-profit organizations, community groups, and many others. Californians simultaneously practicing “Drop, Cover and Hold On,” the earthquake safety protocol recommended by experts as essential for avoiding injury and even death during earthquakes.
While some areas of California are more likely to have earthquakes than others (see below), all of Californiais at higher risk compared to the rest of the country. You could be anywhere when an earthquake strikes: at home, at work, at school, or even on vacation.
What we do now will determine our quality of life after our next big earthquake.Are you prepared to survive and recover quickly? The Great California ShakeOut is an annual opportunity to practice how to be safer during big earthquakes: “Drop, Cover and Hold On.” The ShakeOut has also beenorganized to encourage you, your community, your school, or your organizationto review and update emergency preparedness plans and supplies, and tosecure your spacein order to prevent damage and injuries.
